RIP Naveed
Every passing day brings …
It is hard to write down this heartfelt eulogy for a best friend without it bringing a tear to your eye. A dear friend Naveed Latif, who died on 3rd June 2022-, fighting for the rights of friends and colleagues.
It is even hard to find the exact words to describe our relationship and all the feelings involved in it. Somehow, it was easier to just sit and remember in sketches the days we spent together in The Nation and hard to cry in the dark on losing yet another dear one, like Syed Tahir, Mohammad Shakoor, Maqsood, Usman and not forgetting Anil, Aneesur Rehman...
His jolly nature turned into seriousness all due to the highhandedness of the nawa-I-waqt group administration, which went to such an extent that Naveed and other colleagues including me said it’s enough and their fight for self-awareness and battle for their rights started.
For the next couple of years, we shared several things, we had no secrets, never lied to each other, were always brutally honest and full of respect. But life’s struggle took me away into another world far off from him into my own struggle of life but he stood steadfast and like Anil he remained dedicated for the rights of colleagues and breathed his last under that pressure.
I know he's in a better place now, without illness and pain, but I would miss him rather everyone will miss him. His departure did made us all stronger, but it also made us more emotional and vulnerable than we ever were.
Finally, I must thank you my dear Friend Naveed, for having such an impact on everyone’s life, and making everyone realize their importance. Have a great journey up there, I'm sure we'll meet again. Miss you.
